The winter solstice.
The shortest, darkest day of the year here.
It is something I aim for each year in a 'if I can just make it to Dec 21st then things will start to look up again.' kind of way.
Of course winter isn't over yet.
Heck, winter has barely begun with the coldest temperatures here usually hitting in February but there is just something about making it through the solstice that gives me an extra pep in my step.
When it's a grey and freezing day and I am trudging around in the gloaming and it gets dark way to fast and it hasn't reached the solstice yet I just get all blue and think aghhhh and tomorrow will be worse!
But now we've reached the solstice no matter how blah the day is I can always make myself feel a little better that tomorrow will be just that smidge lighter and brighter than today.
And that's something, hey?
Of course this particular Winter solstice was supposed to be the end of the world but I made it through that, too...
One lucky girl, hey?
