horses for courses

Revolting snowy blustery freezing windy day today.

How do I spend a day like that?

By the fire making materials for class or in the kitchen baking and cooking and generally keeping warm.

How do the girls spend a day like that?

Running in and out of rooms leaving the doors open and constantly shucking the slippers I try to keep on them so that they don't get frostbite and generally acting like they haven't noticed it's not summer anymore.

And K?

Well, he takes the cake.

K spent the day outside with the truck up on blocks lying in the snow playing with the engine.  As you do.

Seriously.

I really admire his can do attitude and think it's pretty cool that he changes tires and oils and fiddles with motors and gets them going again and all that.

But it's just insane to do all that in the snow and cold and bluster and wind and freeze.

He says 'horses for courses'

I say completely insane.

LOL! I've never heard the idiom "horses for courses" (you know, being an American). I had to Google it. But it makes perfect sense!

The longer I live here the less i can keep straight which English is UK/US/Australian. I like horses for courses though, In Japanese they say 10 people 10 colours which I think is a cool image too, yeah? Still won't get me out doing non-essential work on a snow day, though!
