Another year, another kids festival... Bit of a panic this year as it looked like the corn the head of the local PTA has to grow would not be ready on the day.
Corn grown to order to be ready on a certain day?
I've got buckleys!
It all turned out fine though and there was (of course!) corn to spare.
The kids had a great time running through the temple grounds, playing chasey in the cemetary and sliding on their butts down the temple hill... all supervised by the neighbourhood PTA... I don't know how to say sacriligeous in Japanese but I'm guessing it can't be as bad as in English, hey?
The night finished with every kid getting a huge pack of fireworks and letting them off all over the ground. It's been a really dry summer and there were a couple of spot fires in the dried out weeds in the gravel temple carpark but hey, what's a festival without a bit of excitement, right?
