I'm too soft hearted for gardening.
I don't like killing things.
Even squashing aphids makes me sad.
And when thinning out the seedlings I always have to try and transplant the picked ones, even when there's not much chance it will work.
Today I was mulching the new garden beds.
And I hit a conundrum:
Those two-leafed green specks?
Self-sown sunflower seeds.
Each and every one I cover over with that black plastic is going to die.
A bright, beautiful and happiness conferring sunflower snuffed out before it even had a chance.
And yet I hardened my heart and kept on mulching.
What a big girl, huh?
I was looking to the right the whole time.
There's still just a few sunflowers left to ease my guilt.
