I know I haven't written about the garden in ages but honestly Winter is the very off-season garden-wise. It's just too cold to want to be out there! Anyway:
Meg and Amy had a lot of fun playing over New Year and it gave me an idea for class.
The 2 year olds had to ask me for what colour/ shape and face part they wanted and then their mums helped with the gluing:

I really like their pictures and I was really happy that so many chose blue eyes as I have run up against a lot of 'Eyes are black. Only black.' before.
In my phonics class we had a three part activity:

First they made a word bank matching words to pictures.
Then they had to ask me for the colour/ shape and size of which body part they wanted. 'Two small pink cheeks please.'

Then finally the used their word bank to write sentences about their person:

This was the first time some of them had written a whole sentence without copying straight from the text or any key words. They were so proud of themselves and I was so proud of them.
Ohhhhh my students rock!
