Lake Suwa Fireworks Festival

Thanks to Nancy and her family we finally went to the Lake Suwa fireworks. These are a huge deal and apparently nationally famous. I say apparently as everyone here tells me they are but to be honest I'd never heard of them before we moved here. then again I don't really follow fireworks festivals so who knows?

Anyway, they are a very big deal and attract a huge audience (like 300,000 people!) and rightly so as they are fantastic:

What? That's not a good picture of the fireworks? In fact you can't see any fireworks at all? Well, that's because Nancy's family have an electrical shop and Meg and Amy were in heaven playing shops in a real shop. Amy was selling everything for 1 yen, Meg was out the front of the shop sing-songing 'Irasshaimase!!!' and they both were using the front window glass as a mirror for their dancing extravaganzas. Repeated reminders that their 'mirror' was actually a window and they were actually putting on quite the show for passersby fell on deaf ears. Oh well, they were having a ball letting us chat and watch the actual fireworks. Which did I mention were fabulous?

Even in the middle of a typhoon!

Thank you Nancy!
