really

I came into the kitchen to find Amy lying on the floor flailing her arms and legs around and crying 'I don't want white! Not plain white!' and K sitting resolutely beside her.

What's going on?
Daddy said (hic) when I (hic) grow up (hic) I can't have (hic) a pretty (hic) braaaaAAAAA!! Waaaaaaaa!!!
What?
I wanna (hic) PRETTY BRA!!!!!!!! WAAAAAAAA!!!!!
K? (pleading look of incomprehension and disbelief).
No. First bras are supposed to be plain. Beige or white.
K??!
Amy, you are not getting a bra till you need one and that will be at least another seven years so you don't need to decide now.
And both of you- Daddy's don't usually go on shopping trips to by their daughters bras.
Really? (hic)
Really??
Really.

I took Emily bra shopping the other day for a plain, white, unpadded first bra.... what a joke in Japan! You can assure Amy that when it is time for her first bra she will be able to have any colour in the world - as long as it is not white and plain! I guess our trip to NZ in December will include a bra shop - perhaps I'll have to buy a supply for the next 5 years unless I am going to let Emily go for the bright coloured, heavily laced and very heavily padded kind! (which she fortunately turned her nose up at!)

I laughed out loud at this one!!! Who knew K was such a fount of first-bra wisdom?!?! Amy sounds kind of like Meg, except her's was at age 13: "I don't want to wear a braaaaaaa! Waaaaaaaah! I hate boobies!!! Waaaaaaah! It's not fair, boys don't have to wear braaaaas!!!"

That's hilarious!

Jo, Nissen has plain white non-wired sport-style bras.

Wow, kind of glad this is something I will never have to deal with.

Funny to read that K thinks first bras need to be white and plain. LOL

I do hate the heavily lacy and padded type though. Never bought a bra in this country.
