little quackers

They're here!!!!!

All 45 of them. And they are just the cutest things you've ever seen. And they waddle and quack and paddle and putter and you can lose masses of time just watching their antics!

Heading to their new home:

Free at last!

Some are eaters, some explorers and some like to stand back and watch. Just like people, huh?

Going for a swim. They still just have fluff- no real wings at all and yet they can swim. Pretty impressive.

And a close up for maximum oooohhhhhh factor!

They will stay in the little enclosure until the weekend when we will (hopefully!) finally get the rest of the cage predator proof and then they will be let out to do their job- eating weeds and puddle paddling around churning up the mud.

They are so cute! Now I almost wish I had a little duckling myself. ; ) I better snap out of it. And just ohh and ahh at yours through the blog! ; )

Totally adorable! My girls will be thrilled to see the photos. How do you train them to eat weeds but not baby rice plants? Maybe rice plants taste like goya?

God they're adorable. Think I'll get me a box of little quackers next time I get that pang of 'oh I want one' looking at a baby. Hope they stay safe.

the farm where we did our 'lessons' a couple years back had ducks. and there's a paddy near the supermarket i like that has ducks. it's a good idea!

Gina- they really are darling! But they need to swim so that rules out looking after them very easily at home.... your boys do have a slip'n'slide though, right? ;P

Xana- you're anti-goya? I love the stuff! now if the baby rice tastes like melon I totally understand them avoiding it!

GW- not only do they look cute but they go to bed when you ask. Seriously beats toddlers every time! Of course toilet training is less successful though...

illahee- wow, I'd never heard of the ducks until the co-farmers suggested it. Now I'm sold though!
