She is in giraffe class. With 31 other kids. Her 4 year old kinder class had 17 kids so this is a bit of a jump. The kinder is at bursting point with 206 kids enrolled for this year. There just aren't the classrooms to split the 5 year olds into three classes and keep the numbers down. Still it was a bit of a shock. Not that I'm particularly concerned that Amy's personality is one that means she will disappear into the crowd and be overlooked but I was just hoping for sub 25 for a 5 year old class.
But it's not as bad as it sounds. 32 kids but there are four teachers in the room. Two co-class teachers (a mother of 2 and a fresh-out-of-Uni girl) an assistant teacher (unqualified but she's been working at the kinder for years so knows what she's doing) and an integration aide for the boy with down syndrome. So lots of kids but lots of eyes on the kids as well. And a nice mix of experience and youthful exuberance.
I was looking through the class list and I do feel sorry for the teachers though. It's going to be tricky remembering names in this class. They have a Yusei and a Ryusei, a Rio a Ryo and a Ryoya, and a Ryota and a Yota. Wow. Only one Amy though!
Here's to a fun-filled giraffe year Amy!
