a few tomatoes

The saucing tomatoes are going wild. After a sow start to the season they are all ripening at once and we're being inundated. The village's rent-a-kitchen was closed for the Obon Holiday and I work Monday Tuesday so we are trying to preserve the tomatoes as best as possible until Wednesday. Having seen the state of the tomatoes that go to the juice factory- and that's before they spend a couple of days sitting in the forecourt of the loading centre- I think we're being over cautious but in a good way. So this is the second fridge I told Ken we didn't need. Oops. There's also tomatoes in the deep freeze, in my neighbour's deep freeze and in her apple cellar. We are good to go on sauce!

I would post a photo of my TWO tomatoes harvest, but it would be too pathetic!

And I echo the question of GW, just how many jars of sauce are you going to get out of this, and how many from last year do you have left over???

Ahhh, well I'll probably get 220 jars out of this lot. Halve it with whoever I work with so that's 110 each. 10 jars to 'pay' the woman who works at the kitchen and runs all the machines and I'm down to 90. Payback for gifts received around the neighbourhood will get rid of another 20 or so in dribs and drabs and I only end up with 70 odd jars to last the year. That's why I'll probably do the whole thing twice!

Wow that is a lot of tomatos. Woah.

I like the wine idea. Can you magically turn the tomatos into wine?

or cheese?
